Hello,

I am a parent and I am reminiscing my college days when ethical concerns take precedence and students are taught high moral values. Most institutions in the state appear to be commercially motivated with greed in extreme. They employ low calibre faculty on small payments and  behave like absolute extortionists. One is not sure whether the government is either unmindful of their  practices or colluding with them for known reasons. It was never like these in our days where I was taught discipline for a lifetime and the lasting values of the HIndu Dharma. Our professors were true scholars who took to teaching out of  dedication and a love of  the student community. We never paid criminal type of donations in order to purchase a seat in college. Our administrators never ever wooed politicians for favors or approached the media for undue publicity. There was a sense of cordiality and peace among everyone and we never  felt overtones of cast descrimination. There was ragging when the academic year began but there were never violent scenes. We respected the girl students and the safety standards were well maintained. It was always a treat to listen to the speech of our principal who had great charisma and unquestionalble sincerity in his job. His English was faultless and fluent and he was our role model. Are there any like him today? No....I doubt...It appears you need lot of connections  and not intellectual attainment  to become an institutional head.  Maybe it is possible these days to purchase highvalue positions with money and muscle power. All that one requires is how to  manipulate your success meaning no human being at the other end. Surprisingly, we hear of
individual  successes here and there in the field of scientific discovery and attempts of research in campus laboratories. Has there ever been an intellectual discourse, a serious  debate on Arts or a philosophical question among scholars. Its all about game playing , money and  obscene wealth. There can be  no true respect for one who amassed wealth in the wrong ways, pretended his ways or
cheated his neighbour.

But the low economic status of certain class of people denied their children higher educational facilities in your times. . Quality education is tied up with   affluence and unless the Government comes to the help of the economically weaker sections most of India will be steeped in illiteracy. When educational facilities are thrown open to all alike there are challenges which will be resolved in times to come. You must  also wake up to reality and the current trends. India is concerned with mass literacy instead of empowering a
handful of people to  control the destiny of the entire population. Our culture is to deal with the crowds , queues and waiting lists.
You can't do much in a society of more than  one billion people if there is a need for social justice, fairness and equality. In your times there was absolute cultural arrogance of a few which attempted to erase the consciousness of a new India in its beginnings.

You are in the wrong country. Value based education is not known to anyone in India.
