I am an MBA student  and I  wish to understand the word “Hypothesis” . It  is in  Research Methodology.
It is very confusing.  It is very confusing to me. For MBA subject market research is my choice. I want the meaning clearly. Can you explain?

The word hypothesis has  a prefix “hypo” meaning  ‘under’ or  ‘below’ . Thesis means  an idea or a notion. Anything  lesser than  an idea is an assumption or a tentative explanation for an observation,. For example Caffeine may cause sleep disorders is  a  hypothesis as you have tested it several times. However, there is no conclusive evidence that this is so. It is at a hypothetical stage until proven as a scientific fact.  In  a typical market research, you have to ask a number of questions relating to the demographics, competition and consumer behaviour before  you launch a product. When you arrive at a satisfactory situation you make your  business decision.   Hope that helps.
