Which are the best Schools would you suggest for kids?

I  am planning to return to Chennai. I hear a lot about schools claiming global standards and charging enormous fee. Are the standards
really on par with the overseas schools? What about AmericanInetrnational School? Is it very hard to communbte to the city from that school?

 Yes they do have quality education and high standards at the American International School  and  in Chennai the traffic situation is
 much better than in Bangalore or elsewhere. I would also recommend Lalaji Memorial Omega School where the teachers are excellent. They have  few native speakers to handle English and Art subjects. It is a  value based school imparting cultural values.
The distance may be somewhat  challenging but they have an efficient transport system.

American International School maintains high international standards. It is located in Taramani and not difficult to commute.

It all depends on how many of the students get into IIT and other higher educational institutions. Currently DAV  and Chettinad are doing well
