Can you explain the following GRE sentence completion question?

Some consider "Hallmark Holiday" a  disparaging term, because the moniker  ---that  the holiday exists mainly for  ---- purposes, rather than for significant religious  ones.

 1. belies ----paltry
 2. pretends ...dramatic
 3. insinuates ....picayune
 4. insists ...transcendent
 5. implies ....profane

Foremost you must understand the  meaning of "Hallmark Holidays". "Hallmark Holidays" include Valentine's Day, Grandparent's Day,  Mother's Day, Boss's Day and Fathers' Day. They are of U.S. origin being associated with commerical purposes. Some companies devised business strategies by creating emotional appeals to sell  gift products and greeting cards.

Secondly...the meaning of the word...moniker"  means  the shortened version of a person's name.

The key to the answer  lies in the words " rather than" which is a negation  being  dismissive of  "significant religious" events.  The word "profane " means  "irreligious". Now take the clue and proceed with the second  blank and you get the answer

   insinuates ......profane'
